Are you ok?

“…the only standard of perfection we have to meet is to be perfectly ourselves.” ~ Ann Wilson Schaef

No matter what we do and who we are, some people will think we are amazing and some will think we are assholes. This is especially true of high-achievers. We either bring out the best or worst in others.

Yes, it is important to be sensitive to others needs and to adapt our styles to better connect with people.

However, you can play many roles during a day, but you can’t play “real.” At the end of the day, as long as you know you did your best, then let the rest go. You were meant to stand out and be an individual. That is your privilege and your responsibility.

As the late Doctor Seuss said, “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”

I love the Dr. Seuss quote; I’m going to write it down and keep it with me. I have been doing a lot of soul searching lately to figure out what is truley “real” for me and really appreciate the reminder to “just let the rest go…” too often the chatter in my head keeps me questioning whether I did my best or should have done something differently or could have done it better (should of, would of , could of syndrome). I have found that continuing to focus on the present, being ever mindful is an ongoing discipline and I will continue to cultivate it and “just let the rest go.”
